I did hammer the one time I could find dry pavement from 55-95 and egt's hit a max of about 1500* so I was happy with that considering how much power it has for a street tune. It's a little smokey you get on it with no boost built, but it clears right up. It's hard to tell since it's been raining on and off today, and I don't like hammer on something before the transmission gets some learning time. The street tune is probably my favorite so far. I opted for it instead of running the canned sct tow tune because I have a 90 gallon auxiliary tank that gravity flows into the main tank full time, which causes a P0460 code since the fuel gauge never comes off full (Eric was able to write this code out of the program just like the codes that come with an EGR delete). The tow tune is what you would expect, just a tad more power and better shifting. Since Eric sent me the tunes, I'd assume he did the tuning but I'm sure they're pretty close to Vivian's since he's her son. Quick Tricks/Vivian's/Eric's Tuning: Of course getting studded I felt safe running some hotter tunes on the truck, so I opted for the heavy tow, street, and looney wild. The tuner fits nicely in the drivers grove box with the cord bundled up with one of the ladies hair ties around it. The color screen lights up nice and bright and is MUCH easier to see than the SF3. Now this is the first time I've ever run custom tunes, so it's hard to judge, but the programming has to be at least twice as fast as the SF3 I had last year (again, I was using canned tunes on the SF3 and custom tunes on the X4 so that could be it). Unboxing the X4 made me feel a little better with a nice fancy box vs a junk plastic case when you pay $400 for these things, but maybe thats just me. This includes the physical size, the bigger screen that is now in color, the disconnectable cord, and the speed of the programming process. The X4 exceeds the SF3/X3 in many, many areas. Nothing extra is running as far as I can tell.no HVAC, DTRs are on of course.SCT X4: Well while my truck was in the shop getting studded, I figured it would be a good time to drop some coin in a new (latest and greatest of course) X4. The key off voltage on the tuner says 12.7 and key on says 11.5. My next attempt to write the street tune, I will do it with the battery charger on to maintain voltage. However I plugged in the X4 again and this time I was able to reset to stock. Did that and tried to start, still couldn’t. Unplugged tried to start and couldn’t start.ĭid a bunch more googling and forum searching and determined that I might benefit from unplugging batteries for 20 minutes. Tuner downloaded the stock tune and attempted to write the street tune. Plugged in and setup for street tune with EGR off. Found an X4 on eBay that has older firmware. Discovered that the new SCT and most tune writers don’t support EGR delete any longer. Did research and found that I could get an SCT X4 and program a tune that includes EGR “off” in order to inform the computer that the EGR is deleted and it can keep the CEL off. Found out that the truck came with EGR deleted, which of course triggers the CEL. Dealer couldn’t fix it after having the truck for two days. The CEL came on, on the way home from dealer.
